This Policy describes how Chess Online ("the service", "we") collects, uses and protects your personal data, in line with applicable data protection laws (including Brazil's LGPD and the EU GDPR).
1. Who we are
Chess Online is a free online chess game with an interactive tutorial, available at xadrezonline.app.

2. What data we collect
2.1 When you play without signing in
- No personal data is collected.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) collect anonymized usage data (pages visited, session time, device).
- Third-party ads (Monetag) may collect data according to their own policies.
2.2 When you sign in with Google (optional)
- Name and email from your Google account (received via OAuth)
- A unique identifier generated for your account in our system
- Game data: difficulty level beaten, game time, date
2.3 Automatic technical data
- IP address (anonymized by Google Analytics)
- Browser type, operating system, language
- Essential cookies required for sign-in to work
3. How we use your data
- Authentication: to enable sign-in and identify your account on the leaderboard
- Leaderboard: to publicly display your display name, wins and times
- Analytics: to understand how the game is used and improve it
- Ads: to keep the service free (ads may be targeted by third parties)
We never sell your data. We never send marketing emails.

5. Data sharing
We share data only with the processors listed above, strictly to operate the service. Your display name and game statistics appear publicly on the leaderboard — anyone who visits the site can see them.
6. How long we keep it
- Account data: as long as your account exists
- Leaderboard data: indefinitely, or until you request deletion
- Analytics data: per Google's retention period (up to 14 months)
7. Your rights
At any time, you may:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated data
- Port your data (export it)
- Withdraw consent at any time
- File a complaint with your local data protection authority

8. Cookies
We use:
- Essential (Supabase sign-in): required for sign-in to work
- Analytics (Google Analytics): you can opt out by installing the Google opt-out extension
- Advertising (Monetag): you can disable it via your browser privacy settings or by using an ad blocker
9. Children and minors
The service is suitable for all ages, but signing in with Google requires a Google account, which Google restricts to users aged 13 and over. Parents/guardians should supervise use by minors.
10. Security
We use HTTPS across the whole site, secure authentication via OAuth, and Row Level Security (RLS) in the database to prevent one user from accessing or modifying another user's data. But no system is 100% immune — if an incident affects your data, you will be notified as required by law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be announced on the site itself. The date at the top indicates the current version.
